曲培醇（Petra ten-Doesschate Chu）教授生于荷兰,定居于美国,自1972年起在美国西东大学美术与音乐系担任教授,教龄四十余年,公认为19世纪艺术研究领域的权威学者。现任西东大学美术与音乐系学术总监,《十九世纪世界艺术》执行主编,曾任十九世纪艺术史研究者协会主席。多次获奖,包括简与摩根•惠特尼艺术史学术奖金、约翰•西蒙•古根海姆纪念学术奖金,以及两次美国国家人文基金会奖金。著作十余本,包括《法国现实主义与荷兰诸大师》《透视库尔贝》《古斯塔夫•库尔贝的信》《十九世纪欧洲艺术史》《法国最自负的人：古斯塔夫•库尔贝与十九世纪媒介文化》。
