美国当代著名女作家,1963年出生,在密西西比州格林纳达长大,五岁时写了人生第一首诗,十三岁时发表了第一首十四行诗。1981年就读密西西比大学,后转学至贝林顿学院。大一时就因写作才能受到注意,被著名作家巴里•汉纳收入其短篇小说课程研究生班。汉纳称其为“难得一见的天才,文学之星”。

唐娜•塔特平均每十多年才完成一部作品,迄今只出版了三部长篇小说：《校园秘史》《小友》和《金翅雀》。这三部作品均颇受好评,畅销长销,版权售出三十余国家和地区,奠定了她在文学界的地位。2014年,塔特入选《时代》杂志“年度最具影响力的一百位人物”。
