The German street artists Evol and Pisa73, both born in the early 1970s, have been working together as CTink for a dozen years. Their design, illustration and street art portfolios are full of posters, stickers and installations, some of which were featured in Drago's 2005 Izastikup, but they are best known for their complex, highly detailed, multi-layered stencil paintings. Their subjects, as well as their range of materials, show an abiding love for absurdities and the overlooked--most paintings are done with a mixture of spray cans, markers, wall paint and pencils, often on salvaged media including old wood, bulky waste and cardboard. The resulting work comments slyly on everyday life in a superficial and style-oriented world, in tones that vary from ironic to thoughtful and serious. Both artists are based in Berlin, where they share a studio, and have shown widely throughout Europe.
