拉里·尼文,著名科幻作家,多次获得雨果奖和星云奖。1938年生于加利福尼亚州洛杉矶市,1962年毕业于堪萨斯州的瓦希巴大学。1964年,尼文发表了第一篇科幻小说《最寒冷的地方》,从此踏上科幻创作之路,很快成为科幻界的中坚力量。

《环形世界》是尼文最受世人推崇的作品,一举为他赢得了星云奖、雨果奖和轨迹奖三座奖杯,被公认为硬科幻的经典之作。

拉里·尼文的重要作品还有《上帝眼中的微尘》和《环形世界的工程师》等。
