伊塔羅．卡爾維諾 （Italo Calvino,1923-1985）

出生於古巴。

二次大戰期間他加入抗德游擊隊,45 年加入共產黨、47 年畢業於都靈大學文學院,並出版小說《蛛巢小徑》。

1950 年代他致力於左翼文化工作,重要作品有《阿根廷螞蟻》、《我們的祖先》三部曲和《義大利童話》（編著）。1960 年代中期起,他長住巴黎15年,與李維-史陀、羅蘭．巴特等有密切交往；1960年代的代表作為科幻小說《宇宙連環圖》,曾獲頒美國國家書卷獎。

1970 年代,卡爾維諾致力於開發小說敘述藝術的無限可能,陸續出版了《看不見的城市 》、《不存在的騎士 》和《如果在冬夜,一個旅人》,奠定了他在當代文壇的崇高地位,並受到全義大利人的敬愛。

1985年夏,他突患腦溢血,於 9 月 19 日辭世。1986 年,短篇小說集《在美洲虎太陽下》出版。1988 年,未發表的演說稿《給下一輪太平盛世的備忘錄 》問世。1994 年,富有自傳性色彩的《巴黎隱士》結集成書。1995 年出版《在你說喂之前》。
